Montgomery County's recycling regulations are serious business, and failure to comply with these regulations can result first in a written warning and then fines can be issued.

It doesn't matter if its the fault of a part-time employee or a senior manager, if any of the following violations occur on your property your business can be in trouble. So make sure all your employees are educated on what they need to do.

Common Violations

Administrative

• Failure to use a Montgomery County licensed collector/hauler
• Failure to submit a Recycling and Waste Reduction Plan
• Failure to submit an Annual Recycling and Waste Reduction Report
• Failure to educate employees, tenants, and customers on the
  details of your recycling and waste reduction program

Material and Site Management

• Allowing accumulation of solid waste on your property
• Dumping solid waste on the land of another
• Failure to provide sufficient containers for waste
• Failure to provide recycling containers or service
• Failure to recycle required materials
• Waste on the ground due to insufficient storage units
